Description
Artisan Ninja FX Hayate Otsu XL (v2) – Wine Red / Black (xsoft | soft | mid)
Artisan Hayate Otsu v2 is the most technologically advanced mousepad in the Ninja FX series.
Often called an “improved Hien”. It offers similar speed,
but with a much smoother surface and identical glide vertically and horizontally.
It is the “golden mean” for gamers looking for the perfect balance between fast glide and control.
Why the Artisan FX Hayate Otsu (v2)?
- Improved surface (Jacquard Weave): The special jacquard weave is more pleasant on the skin than on the Hien,
but still provides excellent feedback (feel of the mouse). - Identical X and Y axis: Unlike the Hien, the Hayate Otsu v2 offers the same speed
for both horizontal and vertical movements. This is key for aim consistency. - Effortless micro-adjustments: Very low initial resistance (static friction) means
that small crosshair corrections are ultra smooth rather than “jumpy”. - Fast STOP: Despite the high speed, the material’s structure lets you easily stop the mouse exactly where you want.
How does the hardness system work on the Hayate Otsu?
This mousepad is flexible, so the choice of foam has a big impact on how it ultimately feels in game.
XSOFT (4mm)
Gives incredible braking force (stopping power). The mouse sinks in when you press down,
which lets you turn this fast mousepad into a tool for precise shots (tactical shooters).
The most popular choice for this surface.
SOFT (4mm)
The most versatile. It keeps the character of a “Fast Hybrid”, but is comfortable for the hand
and forgives inconsistencies in mouse pressure.
Games: Apex Legends, Valorant (Duelist), Overwatch 2, The Finals.
MID (3mm)
For speed purists. The surface is flat and firm, which maximizes glide speed.
Choose this if you have a “light hand” and don’t press the mouse into the desk.
Comparison with other pads
| vs Artisan Hien | The Otsu is a bit slower, but much smoother and more predictable (even X/Y). However, if you prefer a rough texture and max speed, choose the Hien. |
| vs Artisan Zero | The Zero is a typical Control pad. The Hayate Otsu is Quick/Hybrid. If the Zero feels “too sluggish” to you, the Otsu will be the perfect upgrade. Compare with the Zero. |
| vs Zowie GTF-X | The Otsu has a better base (it doesn’t slide around on the desk), has no problems flattening out (it lies flat right out of the box) and has a more pleasant surface. |

This is for you if:
- ✅ You’re looking for something faster than standard “cloth pads” (QCK/G-SR), but you’re afraid of losing control
- ✅ The roughness of the Hien annoyed you
- ✅ You play fast-paced games (Apex/OW2) but sometimes like to play CS2/Valorant
- ✅ You expect identical glide vertically and horizontally
This is NOT for you if:
- ❌ You’re looking for the maximum “muddy feel” (mud-like resistance) for full control
- ❌ Your priority is the absolute highest durability for years (the Hien wins this category by a small margin)
- ❌ You use glass skates (they can damage the fabric weave)
Frequently asked questions
Is this the new version (v2)?
Yes. We sell only the latest revision of the Ninja FX Hayate Otsu (often referred to by the community as v2).
We are an official distributor, so you can be sure you’re getting a fresh product straight from Japan,
free of the flaws of older models (such as fast wear).
Is the Hayate Otsu faster than the Hien?
They feel very similar, but they work differently.
The Hien seems faster because of its roughness and lower surface friction.
The Otsu is minimally slower, but gives the impression of a “smoother” and more controlled glide (less floaty).
How do I care for this mousepad?
The jacquard weave likes gentle treatment.
We recommend cleaning with a damp microfiber cloth or gentle hand washing.
Avoid stiff brushes.
Which skates do you recommend?
The Hayate Otsu works great with good quality PTFE.
CorePad Skatez will give you good control, and Tiger ICE will get maximum speed out of it.
